This course is for people with experience of carrying out energy assessments, surveys and audits in other fields. It should enable you to assemble the necessary data, carry out evaluations, and make reasonable recommendations.

The course deals with road transport. It covers cars (including the grey fleet), vans, PSVs and HGVs. It includes:

  • Transport type characteristics
  • Data sources, collection and estimation
  • Performance metrics
  • Prioritisation
  • Technical and human-factors improvement measures

The training is equally useful for public-sector organisations, private enterprises and consultants, and for those already engaged in carbon accounting it adds the vital dimension of practical emissions reduction. The instructor, Dr Chris Endacott, has carried out over a hundred fleet energy reviews and worked in depth on a number of government programmes. He uses a combination of presentations and individual and group exercises including basic calculations and some on-line research.

The course is small and informal, with plenty of opportunity for interaction..
