PILC covers EU Module 21: Advanced anaesthesia for surgical or prolonged procedures and EU Module 22: Principles of surgery

EU module 21 is needed by those performing invasive procedures involving access to body cavities under recovery anaesthesia, or for any procedures under anaesthesia of any duration greater than 15 minutes, where maintenance of anaesthesia is required. The module includes

induction and maintenance of balanced anaesthesia for prolonged procedures
anaesthetic monitoring
management of pain

EU22 is needed by those carrying out invasive surgical procedures.

This module includes:

principles of pre-operative animal assessment and care,
preparations for surgery
principles of surgery.
post-operative care and monitoring
tissue healing
commonly used instruments
