EMDR Therapy can be an effective treatment modality for clients suffering from anxiety, particularly when their symptoms are informed by inadequately processed disturbing memories. This training will explore comprehensive treatment for the most common presentations of anxiety from an AIP informed perspective. Included will be an overview of the physiology of anxiety, methods of increasing capacity for emotional regulation, treatment planning, and practicum.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the physiological symptoms of anxiety as they are affected by the autonomic nervous system.
  2. Utilize two strategies for assisting clients to increase capacity for self-soothing and emotional regulation.
  3. Prepare an AIP informed treatment plan for at least three anxiety disorders.
  4. Demonstrate treatment of simple or process phobia in practicum.
  5. Recognize the role of attachment disruptions in one or more anxiety disorders.
  6. Explain unique challenges in treating obsessive compulsive disorder.

** About The Presenter
Bill Brislin has been a psychotherapist in the Orlando area for over thirty years. His interest in anxiety, trauma and complex trauma began during his fifteen years as a counselor at a local AIDS support agency. An EMDR Certified Therapist and EMDRIA Approved Consultant, Bill enjoys unlocking the potential for EMDR Therapy with anxious clients who have often had prior experiences with therapy and are seeking more permanent relief. A graduate of the Catholic University of America and the University of Notre Dame, he is committeto ongoing learning and formation. Bill holds memberships in the EMDR International Association, the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis, and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. Additionally, Bill is a Part 1 EMDR Basic Trainer for Trauma Recovery/HAP and is an EMDR R-TEP/G-TEP trainer.
