The Introduction to Modern Sporting Rifle course is a four-hour basic course designed to develop new user proficiency with an MSR. The course is primarily geared toward first time MSR owners, however shooters who have not used the MSR platform for an extended period of time can benefit from the training as well.

The course objective is to familiarize shooter with the rifle system and build confidence in their ability to deploy the MSR for your intended purpose.

Modern Sporting Rifle course of instruction will include:

Basic Firearm Safety
History of the AR Platform
Modern Sporting Rifle purpose and configurations
Loading and unloading
Stance and grip
Basic Rifle Marksmanship (BRM)
Battle Sight Zeroing (BZO)
Zeroing an optic on the MSR
Target Engagement
Live fire training (Shooting) at variable distances
User level disassembly/ Reassembly of the MSR (field stripping)
Cleaning, maintenance and storage of the MSR

What do I need to bring?

MSR (AR-15 Style) contact us weeks prior to course date if MSR is needed
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ear Protection and Eye protection (sunglasses, prescription glasses, or safety glasses are ok).
Weather appropriate clothing and footwear, suitable for range work (hot brass hurts in shorts and flip flops!!)
Magazine pouches/ belt with a minimum of three quality UNLOADED magazines
MSR Rifle Sling
Unloaded Rifle in the case upon arrival
Cleaning Kit (Appropriate to the caliber of your MSR)
Notebook and writing material (iPad or tablet are permissible; student will need a pen on the range)
200 rounds FMJ ball (available for purchase at the range) No handloads
