Becoming a Community Asset (North)
Join MHA Peer Services to learn what community assets are, how to map them and how to use them in your own Peer Community.
Community assets are a group’s collective resources and experiences. This workshop will further define Community Assets, guide participants to create their own Asset Maps, and explain how these differ from traditional needs assessments. Participants will create an asset map of the class as a community, which they can then use as a basis for completing a larger map for their own organization. We will discuss how these resources can be used by the members of the Peer Community to create the services that they want for themselves. In preparation for this workshop, please think about your own assets: What are you good at? What organizations do you belong to? Do you have access to equipment or buildings/rooms that may benefit the Peer Community?
