We are living in stressful times, and there is a growing demand for the benefits of meditation and mindfulness practices. It can be hard to choose between the many meditation apps, offerings, and institutions that have proliferated in recent years.

This free series of three, hour-long classes will provide an introduction to some of the key concepts and practices of the evidence-based Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program pioneered by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Since 1995, research has shown that the full MBSR course can increase positive behavioral and physical health outcomes and improve participants’ ability to regulate their emotions and attention.

If you’re curious about MBSR, or simply want to take this opportunity to dip into mindfulness with a great group of people, this could be a great way to spend an hour…or three! Together, we’ll explore some of the habits and perceptions that increase the impact of stress in our lives, while also sampling some simple practices that can lead to more positive connection with our bodies and greater peace of mind. This is an interactive class, with guided mindful movement, guided basic meditation, and time for discussion.

Feel free to attend one or all of the three classes – whatever works best for you and your schedule. We’ll discuss new concepts and try out different mindfulness practices each time.

No special space or equipment is required – just relative privacy/quiet and loose, comfortable clothing.
