Scratch Block Workshop

Carve your own tile mold (scratch block) to be cast in aluminum.

You will receive 1 single 6” x 6” blank tile mold (a block of resin-bonded sand; “scratch block”) into which you can carve any shallow-relief design you so wish. On average the scratch blocks take about an hour to carve depending on your design. There is no experience necessary, nor any need to bring your own safety gear. We will provide instruction, safety gear, tools, and materials in this workshop, after which you will leave your mold with the Liberty Arts Team.

Cost per individual is $45.

There are also a few options to be an angel and pay a little more, helping us add to the amount we raise.

Our Annual Iron Pour was also our Annual Fundraiser. COVID has affected our ability to generate income in so many ways. This is our COVID Pivot. This is one of the ways we are going to stay open and able to keep creating a space for Durham to ignite your creativity. We plan to keep being the place where you can learn to use a letterpress, to weld or turn wood, to cast metal or throw pots.
