Landscape Painting Fundamentals in Acrylic: ONLINE

In this five-session online acrylic painting course, Edward Sprafkin will cover the fundamental principles that ensure successful paintings. Topics will include design, form, value, and color mixing. Weekly live painting demonstrations and critiques provided. Students are welcome to use their photos or sample photos provided by the instructor. This course is ideal for beginning to intermediate students.

Edward Sprafkin has been teaching drawing and painting professionally for the past twelve years. His focus is landscape painting on location called, “Plein Air Painting” which he finds both exhilarating and rejuvenating. Utrecht Artist Acrylic Colors, Liquitex Professional Heavy Body Acrylic Paints, or Golden Artist

Palette: Masterson Stay-Wet Palette System: w/sponge and palette paper insert. (One of the
following options - Handy Palette with white lid, Painters Pal with a yellow lid, or the 12x16 with
a blue lid.)
Spray Bottle: For misting the paints to prevent them drying too quickly.
Acrylic primed painting surfaces: (Canvas pads or acrylic paper will be the most economical
for practicing techniques in this course.)

Strathmore Acrylic Paper Pad 9x12
Fredrix Hand Turned Canvas Panels 8x10 or 9x12 (Box of 12)
Pro-Tones All Media Canvas Panels 8x10 or 9x12 (Box of 12)
Paper Binder Clips to prevent Acrylic or Canvas pad from curling or shifting during painting.
Brushes: (Note: Have at least one 1” wide brush. Liquitex “Freestyle,” Silver “Bristlon,”
Princeton “Summit,” or Robert Simmons “Titanium” are all great brush brands.)
Long Handle Flat Synthetic.Various sizes # 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12.
Synthetic Liner - #0 “Simply Simmons”
Palette knife: diamond-shaped, 1.5” - 2” in length.
Brush washer: large empty yogurt container.
