TIME: 9:00-3:00 PM

The Story of Rivers includes all the species that need water to live…like raccoons! Discover what makes a healthy river and follow the mysterious and winding path of our water on a wild adventure! Designed to introduce young people to rivers - and backpacking. Monday - Wednesday are day camps, Thursday to Friday we do a short local backpack trip and get comfortable sleeping out under the stars. Time to explore, do crafts, practice skills and just relax. All summer programs include basic wilderness safety, awareness and skills in the wild. Games that increase agility and motor skills, “Leave No Trace” principles, and nature exploration. Other activities can include fire by friction, building debris huts and tracking animals among the infinite possibilities. There is usually a water component – although not guaranteed! Parents will drive kids daily to our daily destinations (see destination info), with a possible van option some days. Hiking distances vary 1 - 3 miles each day.
***We have some loaner backpacking gear for our trip. If you need supplies, please contact us. You will receive a backpacking pack list when you register.
