Climate Change and COIL Virtual Exchange: Creating Podcasts Among American and British Students
Professors Staci Strobl (Shenandoah University in the US) and Sammie Buzzard (Cardiff University in the UK) will speak about their experiences receiving and implementing the Global Challenges Teaching Award. This award was given by the US-UK Fulbright Commission and supports US and UK higher education institutions through teaching faculty to co-deliver a virtual exchange course for undergraduate students. There are three awards that were given with two recipients each (one from a UK institution and one from a US institution). The pairs are focusing on one of these pre-selected global challenges: Racial Justice, Pandemics, and Climate Change. Dr. Buzzard and Dr. Strobl focused on Climate Change and brought together Dr. Strobl's Environmental Crime class and Dr. Buzzard's Climate Change class for a joint project in which small groups made podcasts about climate change's physical and socio-legal effects in selected locations around the world. Come join the discussion on how they have implemented virtual exchange in their classes and have their students work on joint projects.
