Plan Your Summer Veggie Patch

Great planning is the key to a successful and productive veggie patch. Come along to this workshop to learn how to plan, plant and maintain your veggie patch this summer.

This theory-based workshop set in our on-site classroom will cover:

  • Setting up raised garden beds and wicking beds
  • Preparing the soil
  • Seeds and seedlings and which are best
  • Veggie patch layout
  • Maintaining and caring for your veggie patch in summer
  • What to plant
  • Companion planting
  • How to grow a 'Christmas Tomato'

We will also take participants on a short tour of our kitchen garden.

This class is aimed at beginners looking to set up a veggie patch and grow their own veggies. The workshop is primarily aimed at people looking to grow vegetables in raised garden beds or larger veggie patches in the ground. However, small space growers may also find this workshop useful.

By the end of the class you will have the skills and confidence to:
- Work out where to locate your veggie patch
- Understand how to prepare the soil
- Know what to plant in the veggie patch and how
- How to care for your plants over the summer
- Harvest an abundance of delicious and healthy food from your garden

What to Bring:
- Enthusiasm for learning
- Notepad and Pen
- Your own lunch
- Water bottle
- Closed toed, practical shoes
- Warm clothes (Kyneton is very cold in winter)
