Wild Learning

After school art classes at Wild Learning are a great way for kids to develop real art and creative skills in a supportive social learning space.
We focus on teaching practical skills and also encouraging personal expression and unique style.

This class is suitable for gifted and talents students in year 5, 6 and students in year 7 & 8 who prefer a calmer, more structured art class with a step by step instructions.

PLEASE NOTE classes begin week 2 of term

Class structure:

• Students arrive and choose somewhere to sit
  
  

• Free drawing time with paper, lead pencil and eraser - students can draw anything they like during this time. Free drawing serves as a way to settle into, relax and let go of what ever has happened during the day and warm up the hand muscles and creative mind. Often these drawings end up abandoned or in the bin - that is fine! it's like the warm up before you play sport so it's ok not to make masterpieces :)
  
  

• After free drawing we put down pencils and say good afternoon and listen to the instructions for todays project
  
  

• Everyone helps set up materials and get ready

• Claire will demonstrate and step students through the art project and Pip our class helper is available to support students and assist with materials.
  
• At the end of class students pack away materials and clean their workspace
• Art works either go straight home or to the drying racks till next week.

What will students do each week?
This term we are going to learn about different ways to draw, paint and create FACES and CREATURES!
Students will learn techniques in a range of styles and art materials and will have the opportunity to display their art work in our end of year student showcase.

How many students in a class?
Maximum of 14 students per group

Who are art classes suitable for?

• New students and returning students are both welcome
• Students will work at a table (strictly no running around) and follow instructions- so your child must be comfortable with group learning, participating in a structured lesson, following class rules and safety instructions.

What do students need to bring?

• Students should wear play clothes - any child in a school uniform must wear an apron, either their own or one from the borrow box.

• We recommend a water bottle, especially on hot days!

Can I stay with my child?

• You are welcome to bring your child inside at settle them into the art space.

• We ask parents to leave children and collect at the end of class - this keeps the number of people in the building down, and kids tend to focus better. You are welcome to hang out on one of our comfy couches in the waiting corner if you prefer!

What if my child has additional learning needs?

• I do everything I can to be inclusive of children with additional or different learning needs, including learning and language barriers and behaviour support needs.

• PLEASE TALK TO ME BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS - even if it's a minor thing, just drop me an email or give me a ring so I can make sure your child is comfortable and included and we have a plan in place if required.

• In some circumstances I may ask a support person to attend with the child

How do I pay?

• You can pay via our website using a credit card

• Use the PAY LATER button If you prefer to use PayPal / Internet banking transfer / Cash / gift Voucher and you will get an email with instructions

• CREATIVE KIDS VOUCHERS can be used to cover $100 worth of fees (there is a gap of $20 extra per term) - please provide the details on your enrolment form and press PAY LATER. We will claim your voucher to cover $100 and then the $20 can be paid online or at your first lesson.

You are welcome to enrol at any point during the term, if here are places in class left.

Do I need to pay extra for art supplies or are there any other costs?

• No! everything is covered in your class fee
