This five-session (15 hour) evening class walks students through creating and casting a sculpture in bronze

Students will be supplied with 2 lbs of casting wax, as well as other raw materials and instruction necessary in order to create a small bronze sculpture.

We will work with you as you create a wax version of your sculpture (the ‘pattern’); pack it into a sand mold; burn the wax out; and cast it in molten bronze. Participating students will suit up in leathers, helmets, and gloves at our beautiful foundry in Durham Central Park during the Third Friday Art Walk, on Friday August 16th to help cast their pieces in a public event.

This course runs for five weeks, beginning Thursday, July 18. The class will meet from 6 to 9 pm, and pour the final pieces on Friday, August 16th, during Durham’s Third Friday art walk.
