Ask, Explore, Write! Moving Inquiry-Driven Science into Virtual Spaces
As we consider possibilities for inquiry-driven science learning in virtual spaces, join us for three half-days of professional learning, “Ask, Explore, Write.”
These workshops are offered in a virtual environment and you will need reliable internet. The workshops are open to 3rd - 12th grade science teachers.
Each day, from 9:00 to 12:15, we will gather in Zoom and adapt model-based science instruction to virtual spaces. In addition to using collaboration tools such as Google Jamboard for whiteboard modeling, Hyperdocs and Google Workbench to design asynchronous lessons, and Padlet to curate resources for students, we will also engage in deeper exploration of Google Expeditions for virtual field trips, Infogram and Piktochart for creating infographics, and the data visualization site EarthTime.org to consider ways that students can explore changes in the environment over time. Session resources will be collected in a shared Google Site and Google Drive folder, enabling participants to use them in their own instruction.
