High-Impact Teaching with Human Subject Research Projects
Do you give students opportunities to design and/or contribute to research projects (perhaps your own!) as part of your courses? Many faculty use student-centered learning methods that ask learners to take an active role in contributing to the ongoing creation of knowledge. When students work on research projects that contribute to generalizable knowledge and involve studying people, they must also learn about the ethics of such research and complete the process of ethics review required by the University's IRB.
Please join the Faculty Hub and Don Forsyth, IRB Chair, on Thursday October 28th at 10am for a presentation outlining steps that can reduce the burden when your teaching involves research projects with human participants. The presentation, which will be recorded for later viewing, will be followed by open Q&A, which will not be recorded to ensure participant privacy.
