Specialized Instruction for Secondary Students
By the time students reach middle and high school, some have developed difficulties that range from misconceptions about new concepts (like proportions) to difficulties with previous math (like division). In this workshop ALN Founder John Tapper and Thetford Academy Teacher Melissa Perry will address intervention and support for students at this level. The workshop will review how early number concepts develop, as many secondary teachers are less aware of these ideas, and focus on three important areas for intervention: fractions, proportions and integers. Special Educators, interventionists and classroom teachers will all find content they can use.
This event is sponsored by the Vermont Agency of Education and is free for participants. This event is offered in a HYBRID format, meaning you can come in person at the Learning Center or you can join the meeting on Zoom.
You will be emailed a Zoom link to join the meeting the day before the workshop and asked to RSVP if you are attending in person so we know how many people to anticipate/provide snacks for.
