The Music Village

The purpose of this class is to experience the joy, creativity and self-expression of music by playing the harmonica. There are no prerequisite and no musical background just burning desire to learn and play

Required material; a Hohner marine band or Blues harp in the key of C or a Hohner bluesband will suffice
Students will learn:
Intro to the harmonica, breathing techniques, basic theory
Simple melodies, first , second, third positions
Chords, triads, two note harmonies
Build a repertoire of songs, any genre
Bending notes, octaves, overblow
Chordal and single not rhythms, continue building repertoire
Perform as a group
Individual performances, summarize
