Board Chairs Academy (Class #28) - Full Series

Board Chairs Academy is a six-month online learning program to help board members of charitable organizations, associations and congregations excel at providing strategic governance to their favorite causes.

Each monthly session is accompanied by a participant guide of handouts, readings and exercises, and features expert presentations as well as small and large group interaction for participants to share their learning.

Organizations may register as many persons as they wish, and the total fee is determined by how many are enrolled. (Registering more people generates greater savings per person!) Organizational registration also includes two hours of complimentary board consultation, and each participant receives 150 pages of resource materials and an invitation to a private LinkedIn group.

Individual registration is also available, either for the full series (by clicking the Register button) or for individual modules (by clicking on specific links below). If you are registered for the full series, no separate module registrations are required.

Sessions for Class #28 are presented one Friday per month, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Pacific Time:

  • April 7 - GOVERNANCE AS STEWARDSHIP: Demonstrating the Art of Purpose-Driven Board Leadership
  • May 5 - BOARD DEVELOPMENT: Advancing a Board to Its Full Potential to Mobilize a Community Movement and Cause
  • June 2 - THE BOARD & EXECUTIVE RELATIONSHIP: Leveraging the Roles of Governance and Management to Create Community Impact
  • July 7 - LEADERSHIP SUCCESSION PLANNING: Fostering a Continuity of Leadership to Advance Your Cause
  • August 4 - RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT: Building Community Equity for Sustainable Community Impact
  • September 8 - CULTIVATING THE EFFECTIVE BOARD: Facilitating a Culture of Evolution and Innovation

The Board Chairs Academy is a cohort learning program introduced by Third Sector Company in 2006. Over 400 organizations have participated in the United States and Canada.

Third Sector Company, Inc. is committed to advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion as foundational to its programs.

We acknowledge and honor the fundamental value and dignity of all people; and we pledge our individual and organizational efforts to build respect, dignity, caring, and equitable treatment for all. As an organization, we are committed to transforming the world into one that promotes social justice and freedom from oppression, including but not limited to, racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, ageism, and ableism.

Thus, we aim to be adaptable, actively anti-racist, embracing cultural differences, and to be accessible for people who are differently resourced and differently abled. Since we do not want financial hardship to be a barrier to participation, there are several seats reserved in each of our fee-based programs for confidentially awarded scholarships. We encourage those from historically underserved communities to apply.
