Painting Supply List

Note: The following list is only a recommendation. If you already have an inventory of oil or acrylic paints, use them first. Listed is a basic palette of colors suitable for various subjects; you can use the colors you like. The only mandatory item is to use Gamsol for oil paints: no Turpenoid solvents or Liquin Driers.

Canvas: Acrylic-primed in a variety of sizes.

Palette: Grey Matters or standard white disposable paper palette.

Professional Oil Paint: Gamblin, Utrecht, Winsor Newton, Rembrandt, or Grumbacher.

Professional Heavy-body Acrylic Paint: Liquitex or Utrecht.

Colors:

Oil Solvent: *Gamsol Only - No Substitutes!

Oil Medium: Gamblin Solvent-Free Oil Gel Medium or Stand Oil.

Palette Cups: Two metal palette cups for oil mediums.

Oil Brushes: Hog Bristle Flats or Brights, sizes #2-12.

Acrylic Brushes: Synthetic Flats, sizes #2-12.

Palette Knife: Diamond-shaped, 2" in length.

Brush Washer: Empty plastic container for acrylic. Stainless-steel air-tight brush washer for oil paints.

Water spray bottle/atomizer for acrylic paints.

Paper towels, tissues, or rags.
