Cultivating Gratitude: A Thanksgiving Mini-Retreat

About the Mini-Retreat

A grateful disposition has been shown in a number of research studies to have wide-ranging physical, psychological, and social benefits. With deliberate practice we have the ability to orient our minds and hearts towards gratitude. This mini-retreat offers space as we approach the holiday season to cultivate more of an "attitude of gratitude." You will learn the benefits of gratitude practice and practical strategies for becoming a more grateful person.

Mindfulness Meditation-Based

Steeped in the foundations of mindfulness meditation, this mini-retreat will offer teacher talks, guided meditation, walking meditation, and opportunities for personal reflection and journaling. There will be both periods of silence and times of discussion. Increasing awareness and deepening compassion, mindfulness meditation practices support the cultivation of gratitude.

The Setting:

The mini-retreat will be held at a professional office building and will have both indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) periods. The indoor segments will occur in a conference room. Seated meditations indoors will be in chairs in this space. The outdoor setting is wooded with a large patio area. Meditation cushions will not be available for this mini-retreat.

Please Bring:

  • A journal or notebook
  • Pen
  • Preferred snacks and beverages for the 4-hour period (drinking water, hot water, tea bags, and light snacks will be available)
