Seminar on Cycle Touring
Registration is required.
Have you ever considered bicycle touring?

I'm back from a 6-week tour from Munich to Budapest (and back). I've toured in the Northeast along three major US cycle trails (the Erie Canalway, the Great Allegheny Passage, and the C&O Towpath), as well as a substantial part of the East Coast Greenway, as well as New Zealand and most of Europe.

We'll talk about:
-Touring Style (Panniers vs Trailer vs. Bikepacking // Credit Card vs. Camping vs. Wild)
-The Bicycle
-A Brief Look at Gear (and Packing!)
-Transporting the Bicycle
-Finding Your Way
-Where to Stay
-How Much Does It Cost?
-Training
-Q&A

Bio:
Rick Steeves began cycle touring in 1989 with a Gap Year three-month trip across Europe and back. Subsequent (mostly) biannual ~3-week cycling trips throughout Europe to include 34 different countries in addition to the US. In 2015, Rick quit his job and made an epic 16-week ride from Istanbul to Ireland (and yes, there’s a boat in there somewhere). On the East Coast Rick has cycled the Erie Canalway, C&O Towpath, and the Great Allegheny Passage, as well as parts of the East Coast Greenway.

Rick lives in Durham, NC with his two poodles of unusual size. With a background in IT, he regularly volunteers with the Durham Bike Coop, the Carolina Canoe Club, and the Red Cross International IT Emergency Response Unit.
