So much of writing comes down to beginning again—from giving ourselves permission to generate material to finding the courage to encounter our drafts anew in revisions. We begin again. Whether you are new to creative writing, or looking to reinvigorate your practice, this class is for you.

The art of Beginnings will be a course in three sessions.

Through lecture, discussion, and in-class prompts, we will explore beginnings. In session 1, we'll think about what it means to give ourselves permission to begin writing. In session 2, we'll find the courage to begin again by approaching the topic of revisions. In session 3, we will arrive at the beginning of the story, which ironically is often the last line to be written.
