Writing Our Selves
We have expressed ourselves through writing since the beginning of time. We have been taught, told, shown, and even forced, to hold our tongues. We've written down our feelings, thoughts, our dreams and hopes, and turned them into story, poetry, and song. So many obstacles have kept us from expressing our truest voice. And our voices, like our bodies, deserve to be set free. As writers, we struggle to find the precise word or words to express what runs through our minds or lays on our hearts. Let’s remove the restraints and make it safe to say it all. It is time. This a workshop series for women writers who identify as BIPOC. We will look at our words as a healing force. We soothe ourselves when we are our most creative and in doing so the healing reverberates. We will explore the craft of writing, the art in it. We’ll look at how we’ve shifted and adapted and always expressed ourselves with the truth of our experience and a great deal of eloquence. Come prepared to write!
