From Another Planet...Bridging the Generations at Work

Most workplaces today bring together people at very different stages of life - from those just starting out to those with decades of experience under their belt. For many of us, it’s the first time we’ve worked side by side with such a wide mix of generations.

That multi-generational mix can be a real strength - different perspectives, fresh ideas and hard-earned wisdom all in one place. But it can also feel difficult at times - different expectations, communication styles and ways of working can sometimes leave us feeling we’re sharing the workplace with people from another planet!

This workshop will help you understand how generational differences shape peoples’ attitudes, expectations and behaviours at work; how to navigate the differences and misunderstanding that happen and provide leadership that nurtures a workplace where everyone can thrive.

This session is a chance to step back, share experiences and make sense of it all together.

  • The 100 year life – what does the future hold?
  • Identifying generations at work and the context in which each grew up
  • Getting to grips with why team members may see things so differently
  • What drives generational expectations and attitudes?
  • Are you a product of your own generation?
  • Focusing in on the mindsets of Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z
  • Managing individuals and adapting your communication approach – leading Gen Y and Gen Z in the 21st century
  • Best practices in other organisations – how are other businesses managing their Gen Z team members?
  • Reflections and Actions – what could you do differently?
