Fostering Belonging in Academic Advising

Students’ sense of belonging has long been identified as a key factor in student retention and success. Recent attention has been paid to how this sense of belonging has evolved in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as how belonging is shaped by students’ social identities. This training will address how advisors can contribute to student belonging at USC. Topics include: examining sense of belonging in the context of academic advising, inclusive advising strategies, and advisor resources at USC.
