Small Stream Fly Fishing Outing

This outing is a follow up to the small stream fly fishing class taught by Gary Applebee. This is where you can put into practice the techniques you learned in the class. If you have taken the class before or already have some experience on small streams, you are welcome as well. There will be demonstrations of the typical casts used, stealth in small stream fishing and reading the water.

Recommended gear is a 6'6" to 7'6" two to four weight rod with floating line, wet wading gear and a good wading staff. Good flies to bring would be Adams parachute in size 16, and elk hair caddis in 14, brass bead hair's ear and pheasant tail nymphs in size 16, size 18 zebra midges, as well as hopper and ant patterns.

If you need gear, let us know, some gear is available on loan for the day.

Bring water, lunch, snacks, a hat and sun screen, and polarized sun glasses.

Due to changing conditions in our local streams, the location will be selected a week or two prior to the class and notification will be made through Corsizio of when and where to meet.

Note: You need to be a member of Deep Creek Fly Fishers to register for this outing. Go to our website at deepcreekflyfishers.org to join or renew.
