Beacon Youth Theatre Ensemble
For students in grade 7 and up
Tuesdays, 5:30pm-7pm, April 9 to June 11, 2024 (plus possible performance dates on June 12 & 13)

Class fee $300 ($30 per 1.5 hour class)

Beacon Youth Theatre Ensemble is a middle and high school theatre program unlike any other! In BYTE, students harness their voices to create original devised work, as well as performing material from an exciting variety of modern and classic plays. This class is a friendly, welcoming space for theatre students who want to challenge themselves, deepen their craft, laugh a lot, and collaborate with like-minded peers.

The theme of our spring session is PERFORM! This spring, our youth ensemble will rehearse Beacon's first production of the most-produced short play in the country, the hilarious comedy "Check Please." They'll also be developing their improv skills and learning to create their own short plays on the spot. Students who wish to work on additional scenes will be invited to do so. We'll invite guest artists to help us go deep into character work and improvisational storytelling.

The spring session will culminate in a performance of "Check Please," improv, and other student work during the final week of class, on June 11, 12, and/or 13. If you register for this class, please mark your calendars for these dates and let us know immediately if you have any conflicts by emailing gwynne@compassarts.org. 

Previous performing experience is recommended for this class but not required. Both new and returning students are welcome!
