Printmaking and Bookbinding (ages 8-12)
Printing and Bookbinding
For ages 8-12
Mondays, 5:15-6:30pm, April 15 to May 20, 2024
Taught by Chiara Di Lello
Learn the basics of printmaking, and turn your original art into one-of-a-kind collaborative artist books. Before computers, printing was how artists around the world created many copies of an artwork for people to enjoy.
In classes 1-3, learn how printing plates work and how designs are transferred and reversed in the printing process, then start your own composition. Classes 4-6 will be devoted to preparing our plates and printing a run of your own work. In weeks 7 and 8, we'll learn different ways to put artworks together into an artist book, including forms like Japanese stitch binding, concertina, and diamond fold books.
