Rompatom: A Musical Ensemble Adventure
For students 8 - 14 years old
Mondays, 4:00-5:15pm, April 15 to June 10, 2024 (no class 5/27)

Class fee $216 ($27 per 1.25 hour class)

Rompatom Ensemble is intended to be a special place for kids who want to embrace music and singing while bringing their true individuality along for the ride.

Many Beacon parents will recall the various kids' musical ensembles that Compass Arts' founder Gina Samardge has assembled over the years. From performances at Randolph and Hudson Hills to more current Rompatom sets, the sight of kids behind a battery of xylophones and drums, ukuleles and recorders, singing their hearts out, performing flashlight choreography for the Mission Impossible theme, tear-jerking with a Coldplay song, or tinikling to a folk piece has come to be a defining Compass Arts experience. Kids are the drivers in these ensembles. It is about coming together to sing, play instruments, move, make stuff, build community, and dream big. Kids can expect a curious mash-up of repertoire, including folk (from America and other countries around the world), indie pop & rock and musical theater. Students will have the opportunity to sing (of course!) and play a variety of percussion instruments. Older students will also have the opportunity to learn ukulele. Everyone will be encouraged to explore while simultaneously working on breath support, vocal technique, ear training, part singing, rhythm games, and body percussion.

This ensemble really embodies the deepest aspects of the Compass Arts ethic; engaging curiosity, embracing individual expression, and having A LOT of fun. New folks who have never participated in Rompatom are welcome to register for the first class as a free trial before officially joining.
