Introduction to Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Introduction to Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Learn the basics of weaving on a rigid heddle loom. This 6 hour class will cover how to dress the loom and how to weaving with a plain weave structure. Finishing techniques including hemstitching and fringe will also be covered. By the end of the class, students will have the confidence to continue weaving and working towards the completion of a woven scarf.
Students will need to bring their own looms or rent a loom to learn on*. Two skeins of a sport weight yarn are recommended and should be chosen prior to the workshop. Yarn should be prepared and wound for the class.
Students will receive a small tool kit containing a weaving booklet and a needle for hemstitching as well as a sampler to practice finishing techniques. No experience necessary.
Please bring pen and paper if you wish to take notes and your own refreshments.
*If you need to rent a loom, please indicate you need to do so. We have blocked off our rental looms from rentals outside of the class to ensure there are enough rental looms available. We will contact you with further details about your rental.
Please note the classroom is upstairs (14 steps).

It was the first time I’ve ever worked with yarn and happily I could recognize what I made. The class was worth while.
