Phlebotomy Training (Adults)

In order to complete this training you will require a mentor who will supervise your bleeds and conduct the final assessment.

To develop the skills required to become a competent and proficient phlebotomist through a formal theoretical and practical training program for adult venous blood sampling. 

  1. By the end of the programme you will understand the anatomy and physiology relevant to taking venous blood samples 
  2. By the end of the programme you will understand the precautions required for infection prevention and control using the Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) 
  3. By the end of the programme you will understand professional issues associated with taking blood samples 
  4. By the end of the programme you will be able to take venous samples from adults safely and competently 
  5. By the end of the programme you will understand requirements for information, record keeping and transportation of blood sampl
  6. You will need to attend the theory session and be supervised by your mentor taking 50 bleeds  Following successful completion of your 50 bleeds you will need to be formally assessed on 5 bleeds.
