Clowning is not so much a particular style of acting when actually experienced by the person behind the nose. It is a personal combination of play-based communications and risk; experienced in the now. This means unstructured play in action, while framing the characters that present themselves from within. 

Life as an adult, social conventions, and the global news cycle drive down and away the innocence of childhood whether we like it or not. We all carry the burden of this dilemma, but together we can shift perspectives and lighten the load.

This workshop is a chance for you to relinquish the sensor of everyday living, and within reason, break free of conventions and expectations. To let go of any preconceived ideas of clown and discover the clown within.

Participants will spend three sessions with Adam to explore fields of play, be mindful, share guided meditations (sitting and walking), and develop their own characters.

Theatrical, and simple play based exercises will be explored.

The goal for Adam is to help you express yourself through your clown, and to open up more personal connections with the environment in which you serve. Join him for an experience that you can take away with you to share with partners, audiences, friends, families and maybe yourself too will be surprised.

Go beyond the definition of the word clown. Discuss the meaning of clown, a clown's implication and help each other discover who our clowns actually are.

Clowning is a personal journey, to be lived in the moment. As challenging and scary as this may seem, the door is open and it is up to you to step through it.

All experience levels are welcome.

Adam Zimmerman is much more than an entertainer with an agenda for play. Since he was a child his attention to the world around him has been focused on what happens next. He captivates audiences, and his flagship branding Eccentric Adam is an umbrella for play. Adam has a degree in Theatre from the University of Ottawa and certifications in clown training from around the world. His work in Ottawa is often commissioned for theatrical, corporate and private events. His work opens hearts between strangers and creates interactions that seem to go beyond the boundaries of normalcy. That is the pleasure for Adam. He listens for joy to allow organic play to occur, and as it does, it's his goal and that of his audience, to experience what happens next.
