This 4-day Etching Summer School will provide an intensive etching experience enabling you to explore your own images on copper plates – all with the full support of the tutor. Wendy establishes a warm and supportive environment where you will feel comfortable to discuss your images and progress. She will then recommend techniques, share tips & tricks and demonstrate technical details, all to help you create exciting etchings.

This course offers the opportunity for artists and printmakers to develop concepts, realise ideas and dedicate a week to making and printing. It will also suit those who are fairly new to print and who would like to become comfortable with working in the etching studio. This is a golden opportunity to learn, embed new and existing skills, and add a rewarding dimension to your practice.

This course will provide each participant with 2 small pieces of copper to learn the techniques. Additional copper for developing the images will be available for purchase from the course tutor.

Prices vary between £6.30 (approx 10x15cm) - £12.80 (15x25cm) depending on the size of plate you wish to work on.
Extra printing paper will also be available to purchase from the course tutor at £5.90 per sheet (6 prints per sheet)
Lists of printmaking suppliers will also be provided at the beginning of the course.

We limit our course numbers to 6 - in order for you to get the most from our tutors and the facilities.

Wendy Rhodes is a member of GPC and a knowledgeable teacher with over 25 years’ experience. Wendy holds an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking and she completed a Practice-led PhD (2019) that followed extensive research in the fields of drawing and etching. She specialises in etching and is known for her landscape prints.

Terms and Conditions:
Bookings are only confirmed on receipt of the full cost of the course. If full payment is not made, you will not be allowed to start the course. We reserve the right to cancel the course at a weeks notice if there are less than 4 participants booked.

We will not be liable for any childcare, travel or accommodation fees lost due to cancellation by us.

Cancellation Policy:
The sum of £50, will be lost If you cancel at short notice (less than 2 weeks before the course start). If your place cannot be filled, no monies will be returned. COVID-19 Precautions

Students may be asked to wear masks and gloves.
Presses and shared equipment (keeping this to a minimum) are wiped after each session with antibacterial cleaner.
Extractor fans will be switched on during courses in downstairs studios.
Students on courses run in the downstairs studio will have access to both the upstairs and downstairs toilets.
Students will need to bring refreshments / lunches with them, but tea & coffee will be freely available.
