Understanding Domestic Violence When Working with New Arrivals-DV 101
The Network presents "Understanding Domestic Violence," a virtual training session for advocates working with new arrivals. The session will be held on Thursday, May 30th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
This training session will cover the foundational aspects of domestic violence, both national and local statistics, forms of abuse, and other issues related to victims of gender-based violence. Participants will leave the session with a clear understanding of how to recognize domestic violence, safety planning with survivors, the impact of DV on children, working with immigrant victims, and available resources. We hope to provide tools for staff who are currently working with families who are new arrivals.
Our interactive training session aims to leverage the knowledge and expertise of our community of gender-based violence service providers. We encourage all participants to come prepared to engage in lively discussions and share their ideas and questions.
A Zoom link will be sent in a welcome email the day before the training. CEUs will be given for Social Work and ICDVP.
