Course Description:

This two-day course on the Introduction to Spirometry is designed for nurses and allied healthcare professionals (AHPs) or healthcare assistants (HCAs) who are new to the field of Spirometry. The program takes participants on a journey from fundamental knowledge of the subject to a more confident and proficient ability to conduct accurate spirometry.

Importance of Accurate Spirometry in COPD Care:
Undoubtedly, accurate spirometry is a crucial aspect of providing optimal COPD care in a general practice setting. This course emphasises the significance of precise spirometry in enhancing COPD management.

Course Details:

Please ensure to bring your own Spirometers and calibration syringes for the entire duration of the course.

Day 1:
- 09:15 AM: Coffee and registration
- 09:30 AM: Introduction and course objectives
- 09:40 AM: Overview of Spirometry – Importance and applications
- 10:00 AM: Equipment maintenance and calibration
- 10:45 AM: Coffee break
- 11:00 AM: Patient preparation and conducting the test (Theory and demonstration)
- 13:00 PM: Lunch break
- 14:00 PM: Ensuring accuracy and troubleshooting
- 14:30 PM: Basic interpretation of results
- 15:00 PM: Case studies
- 15:30 PM: Action plan, evaluation, and available resources
- 15:45 PM: Course conclusion for the day

Day 2:

- 09:30 AM: Quiz to recap day 1 learnings
- 09:40 AM: Review of day 1, including maintenance and conducting the test
- 10:00 AM: Analyzing obtained tracings and addressing encountered issues

- 13:00 PM: Lunch break
- 14:00 PM: Patient scenarios and real-life applications
- 14:30 PM: Identifying concerns and determining appropriate actions
