Arnside

Arnside- Saturday 24th May to Saturday 31st May 2025
Walk Grades: Moderate, Easy
Arnside is a delightful village on the south coast of Cumbria, overlooking the Kent Estuary. It forms part of the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape. This scenic area is ideal for walking with coastal, lowland and hill paths straight from the front door or within a few minutes’ drive.
We have exclusive use of the Parkside Guest House which specialises in group bookings. The price includes full board with daily breakfast, packed lunches and evening meals all catered by our hosts. Special diets can be arranged. There are single, double and twin rooms.
The Parkside Guest House website has more information and photos of the accommodation and local area.

Walks
Most days we aim to offer four options:
- A moderate walk of 10-13 miles
- An easy walk of 7-9 miles
- A leisurely walk of 4-6 miles
- A visit to a place of interest such as an historic home or nature reserve.
Leisurely and easy walks will be mainly lowland with small hills. Moderate walkers will have more challenging routes with higher hills and total ascent of up to 600m.
There is plenty to do in the area. Lake Windermere is just thirty minutes’ drive and the ancient city of Lancaster is thirty minutes to the south. Crossing the estuary from Arnside to Grange takes less than ten minutes on the train. From there we have access to a network of paths following the coast or inland to the low hills that look towards the Lakeland Fells.
Sizergh Castle and the famous topiary gardens of Levens Hall are about eight miles away. RSPB Leighton Moss is only four miles from Arnside. (For the ornithologically minded, this reserve is well known for bitterns and marsh harriers, as well as flocks of waders and sea birds. Pack your binoculars!)
On Sunday we will make time for church or personal devotions in the morning, with a leisurely walk in the afternoon.
