History Weekend - Ironbridge
History Weekend Event at Ironbridge, Self Book With YHA.
We will be based at Coalport YHA near Telford, Shropshire please contact YHA to self- book 01629 592637 around £22 per night (reduced if a YHA member) in dormed accommodation or check on booking.com for B/Bs or self -catering in the area. There are meals available or a self–catering kitchen on site. Breakfast can also be purchased.
On Saturday, we will begin our tour along the Ironbridge Gorge about 5.5 miles. This is “The Valley of Invention” and is widely regarded as the birthplace of The Industrial Revolution which, from 1750, revolutionised the world completely. There are about 10 possible places of interest to visit enroute including Blists Hill; a Victorian Town which is possible for Sunday am. There are individual costs for entry to 10 museums and places of interest, however, it is preferable to get an annual pass for £37 (book on line) this allows a large saving overall and includes the 10 visits to the China Museum,Museum of the Gorge,Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron, and Blists Hill for Sunday. Sunday pm allows you to visit sites you may further wish to reflect on at your leisure. I also explain the background to the development and history of the area as we progress through the Gorge on Saturday and Sunday in order to gain a comprehensive and wider understanding
