Welcome to chess! No prior chess experience is required. This course is open to students ages 4-12 that are completely new to chess, as well as those with a basic understanding looking to solidify foundational skills. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of and appreciation for this timeless game of strategy and intellect.

Course Highlights:

1. Chess Basics: Students will learn the fundamentals of chess, covering the board setup, piece movements, and the rules that govern the game. The curriculum also covers how each piece contributes to the overall strategy.
   
   
2. Practical Exercises and Games: Students will learn from both their victories and defeats through practical exercises and friendly games. Their skills will be developed in a supportive environment that encourages active learning and improvement through play.
   
   
3. Tactical Awareness: Students will be introduced to tactics on how to gain a strategic advantage over their opponent.
   
   
4. Strategy: Students will learn the principles of strategic thinking and creating plans to outmaneuver their opponent.
   
   
5. Endgame Fundamentals: This course will teach basic checkmating techniques and develop skills on how to gain the advantage to win.
   
   
6. Chess Notation: In this course, students will become familiar with basic chess notation for recording and reviewing games.
