Adirondack Mountain Club

Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) workshop. 

The 46 High Peaks Workshop is an instructional course covering a wide range of topics relevant for Aspiring 46ers: an introduction to the history of hiking the 46 High Peaks, route selection, approaching the “trail-less” peaks, hiking efficiency, backcountry safety, rules and regulations of the High Peaks region, and a proper equipment demonstration. We will also discuss Leave No Trace skills and ethics throughout this course, inspiring environmental stewardship to protect this region of New York’s Forest Preserve for generations to come.  

Please plan on meeting in ADK’s Education Yurt Village at 9:00am. Parking is included for program participants. While the yurts are heated, participants should come dressed with warm layers should we spend a portion of the class outdoors. The day will conclude with a comprehensive content session, ending at 4:30pm. The course will be instructed by an ADK Educator with extensive experience in the High Peaks region.
