Description
Are you looking to take your rigid heddle weaving to the next level? Why not explore painted warps! In this two-day class we'll revisit how to warp a rigid heddle loom and we'll take a look at one way to make your projects totally unique: by painting the warp before we weave! Your warp will be painted on the loom, allowing for precise placement of paint and complex shapes.
Note: The painting techniques used in this class may also be applied to warps on a floor loom, however all work will be done on rigid heddle looms in this class.
Prerequisites for participants
This is an intermediate class. Students should already be familiar with rigid heddle weaving. We will go over the steps for warping a loom together as a refresher but it is expected that you are able to weave on your own, as most of the class time will be spent painting. Weaving will happen at home.
- Students must bring a rigid heddle loom, along with a size 10 heddle and warping pegs to this class.
