Open Studio is a time to practice skills you are working on in a class you are attending, or to work independently on your own projects.
There is no formal instruction, so you should have at least one class (that included glazing) under your belt before attending a session. Youth 14 and older who have attended a class at The Arts House may attend these sessions.
$25 - Cost of a single session which can be paid through registration here or in cash, cheque or e-transfer as a walk-in.
$200 - Punch Card Pass. The 10-session punch card offers a slight discount and allows you to attend any open studio that fits your schedule. Cards do not expire.
$10 - Cost of 'First Visit Orientation'. If you are new to Open Pottery Studio and haven't attended a pottery class at The Arts House, you will be required to do the “first-visit orientation”. This orientation is given by the Studio Monitor of any scheduled session at the beginning of the session when requested. It would be helpful for you to send an email to the monitor of the session you plan to attend in advance. Be sure to choose the “add-on” option for this on the registration if you are paying on line. Read the Studio Operating Procedures (found just above the registration form) and view https://youtu.be/Ciyr3-9RPs8 before the orientation..The monitor will expand on and explain any changes, which would include where work in progress will be placed as it changes seasonally when dealing with cold weather etc.
$50 - 10 kilograms of Clay.
Wheels and hand-building equipment are available during open studio. You must be enrolled in a beginner wheel throwing class or have completed one to use the pottery wheels. Clay can be purchased for use in an open studio. WHILE you are enrolled in a 5 session class there is a discount of $5 per session.
Inclimate and unscheduled closings are posted on FB. Check out the TAH Potters group. See what other potters are up to at The Arts House, and check for weather cancellations of Open Studios. If you do not have an account you can still click on the blue link above to go to the page.
