FEMALE CATHETERISATION
This flexible course is part of the Clinical Skills package but can also be completed as a standalone course.
The female catheterisation course will discuss the rationale for catheterisation, the female anatomy, types and benefits of catheterisation. It will provide understanding of the importance of aseptic non touch technique (ANTT), complications that can occur and how to manage these, infection control related to catheterisation, catheter attachment and positioning methods. Professional accountability and documentation.
This course can be completed in your own pace and at you own time. It also allows you the opportunity to review any aspect of the course as many times as required. It will take approximately 1.5hrs to complete the course but you will have access to the course for 4 weeks from you register.
This course will provide you with the theoretical principles that underpin the clinical skill of female catheterisation. To be a competent practitioner in this skill you must be assessed and deemed competent by an experienced registered practitioner in the clinical settings, who is trained, practising and proficient in this skill.
