- Fraud processes
Upon completion of this course section, you will feel confident in your knowledge and abilities surrounding assisting members with their accounts and offering products or services that will help them achieve their financial goals!
The next section covers a robust overview of the special accounts that are able to be opened and revised at Member One. They include the following:
- Power of Attorney Designation
- Payable on Death Designation
- Deceased Accounts
- Estate Accounts
- Rep Payee Accounts
- Conservator/Guardianship/Fiduciary Designation
Many accounts at Member One FCU have special designations, warnings and alerts placed on them. You have probably seen the flashing comments that read "ATTENTION; DECEASED CAUTION" or "Rep Payee; NO CASH DEPOSITS" and have felt concerned that you may not be able to fully help our member without the full understanding of these types of accounts.
This course will cover policies and procedures for existing accounts that have Power of Attorney or Payable on Death designations on file as well as how to put those designations and documents on file for the first time. There will be an in-depth discussion on how to handle an account when a member is deceased, including what documentation is needed to close the account and how to communicate with the deceased member's loved ones who have notified us.
We will also learn the account opening procedures for Estate, Representative Payee and other special accounts that require extra documentation before the actual opening process can begin.
These types of accounts have a few extra rules regarding how transactions must be conducted in order to best protect our members. We are here to help guide you as you take on the responsibility of assisting these special members.
