Indigenous Plant Medicine: Talk, Walk, Make
In many Indigenous teachings, a (plant) medicine walk is a journey that you undertake upon the land to gather everything that you need for sustenance on your overall journey. Every plant is telling you a story, and in that story, the plant is teaching why it is here, its purpose — all we have to do is listen.
We’ll be doing our own Resident Skill Sharing plant medicine walk with an Indigenous Sunaltan in Part 1 & 2, and two other residents in Part 3.
Part 1 (TALK): Learn about Indigenous Plant Medicines from an Indigenous resident at Sunalta from Nadina Stainsby, an Indigenous resident of Sunalta (meal included). A meal will be supplied at the hall, car pooling will be available if you don’t have access to a vehicle.
Part 2 (WALK): We’ll car poll to a place near Sundre (AB). While immersed in nature, Nadina will guide us on Indigenous plant protocol, specific plant medicines (edible and medicinal), and empowered you with storytelling. As a bonus, a forest bath will be offered (guided meditation walk in the forest). Bring your own snacks and water for the on land portion.
Part 3 (MAKE): Two additional residents will show you how to make Essential Oils with the plants picked.
Spots limited to 10 — No Guests Allowed.
Meal provided during Part 1.
For Part 2 & 3, bring your own snacks and water.
