Online: Enhancing Learning an Interprofessional Framework and Techniques - Introduction Session for Paediatric Allied Health Professionals
In this online session Kendra will introduce the approach we use at Enhancing Learning to support a child’s development of skills and regulation. The Enhancing Learning Framework is based on the neuroscience of emotions, regulation and learning in a comprehensive package of information and techniques. This session will outline the systems based framework and how to assess children you work with to understand how the five learning elements are interacting to impact on the child's developing system.
As an inter-professional framework this approach can be used by therapists to create a shared understanding of the child's needs with the child's family and other support people. The approach supports Key Worker and Allied Health Assistant models of care allowing therapists to delegate techniques with access to additional training workshops and materials. Critically, it provides simple coaching strategies to support parents to understand what a child is learning during play and the importance of child agency.
The Enhancing Learning approach has been used by the team at the EL play centre for the past five years and by Kendra for over seven years with positive outcomes for families and their children. Case studies will be included to highlight the positive impact of this non-compliance-based, child led and diversity affirming approach.
This session will provide an introduction to the framework itself and cover some of the main techniques and teaching materials so that participants can immediately implement the concepts with families after the session.
