Learn To Ride (LTR)
90 minutes one-to-one training, no test or assessment
This is the training option for you if you have little or no experience on a motorcycle with manual gears, or it has been a long time since you rode a motorcycle and you would like a refresher.
With one-to-one training designed to build safely and progressively your confidence and skill, this session will introduce you to the controls of a motorcycle, how to move off, ride slowly in a straight line and stop safely, ride through a curve, change gears, ride alternating curves (figure of eight), and use mirrors, indicators and head-checks as required for riding on the road.
There is no test or assessment in this session.
After the Learn To Ride (LTR) session, you should feel ready to move forward to a Basic Handling Skills (BHS) session. If you feel confident in advance, you could book both LTR and BHS sessions for the same day, with a break in-between. If you're not feeling confident, just book the LTR to begin with then see how you go.
We provide the bike, helmet and gloves. You are welcome to bring and use your own bike and equipment, but the motorcycle must be roadworthy and Learner Approved.
The appointment fee covers use of our equipment and training. There is no Basic Handling Skills (BHS) Test included.
The appointment will proceed irrespective of weather conditions, unless the assessor deems the conditions unsafe. You are expected to arrive prepared to complete the session. You must wear long sleeves, long pants and sturdy, covered footwear (i.e. feet completely covered).

Neil is excellent to learn from, have now booked the next course
I have never ridden a motorcycle before and after just one class i was 100% more comfortable. Neil is a great teacher who explains everything well in detail and keeps the lesson going targeting weaknesses. I highly recommend him as a teacher, especially if you are a total novice.
