Interpretation (Declamation)(6th-8th)
Students focus on methods aimed at performing a selection of one or more portions of a literature piece. With a spotlight on character development, depth, voice projection, interpretation events focus on a student’s ability to convey emotion through the use of a text. Each class is meant to highlight key methods of interpretation and expression in speech and theater.
Spring Semester (in-person) will cover: Declamation
Declamation requires students to select a speech that was delivered in public and perform an excerpt of that speech to an audience. Speeches are up to 10 minutes in length. The event is not designed for students to mimic the original author of the speech. Instead, speakers are to develop an oration that delivers the message of the author in an original and engaging manner.
*Prerequisite: Students enrolling in this class must have taken at least 1 semester of Art of Public Speaking or completed advanced Little Orator classes.
