If your child would like to extend their time with us, sign up for the Take a Break option from 11:30-12. The $65 fee is waived if your child stays for all three classes in one day.

"Smart Thinking," where young minds learn to think clearly and spot tricky reasoning! This engaging and interactive class is designed for students 10-12 and will introduce them to the exciting world of critical thinking and logical reasoning. Through fun activities, games, and real-life examples, students will develop the skills to analyze arguments, spot common fallacies, and make thoughtful decisions. The book, The Fallacy Detective is one of the spines used in this class along with many other amazing resources that Ms. Carly has found over the several years that she has taught this student favorite class!

Topics Covered:

Critical Thinking Skills: Discover how to ask the right questions, evaluate evidence, and understand different perspectives. Learn to make well-reasoned decisions and solve problems creatively.

Identifying Fallacies: Explore common reasoning errors like “straw man,” “appeal to emotion,” and “false dilemma.” Through engaging scenarios and puzzles, students will learn how to recognize these fallacies in arguments and understand why they’re misleading.

Debate and Discussion: Practice debating with friends and family in a fun and supportive environment. Learn how to construct clear arguments and respond thoughtfully to different viewpoints.

Real-Life Applications: Apply critical thinking skills to everyday situations, from making choices about what to buy to understanding news stories.
