Wed, Dec 4, 2024, 9:00 – 10:00 AM CST
Virtual / Online
Join fellow work based learning coordinators to learn about how your colleagues are implementing their Work Based Learning (WBL) programs in the Charter Community.
Understand more about how schools are developing partnerships, engaging in curriculum and helping students develop job ready skills while earning academic credit.
Share your own ideas and unique programs to collaborate with others in the field. This group aims to support and enhance established and developing WBL programs in our districts.
Objectives for the WBL Coordinator Group:
- Sharing Best Practices: Coordinators can showcase their current WBL programs, highlighting what’s working well and offering insights into overcoming common challenges.
- Developing Partnerships: Schools and districts can brainstorm ways to build stronger ties with local businesses, industries, and community organizations to create more and better opportunities for students.
- Curriculum Integration: Discuss methods for integrating WBL into the academic curriculum, ensuring students receive both practical experiences and academic credit for their work-based learning efforts.
- Student Career Readiness: Focus on how to equip students with job-ready skills, through both in-class preparation and hands-on experiences.
- Collaboration and Networking: Create opportunities for coordinators to collaborate and build networks with peers from other districts and schools, fostering a supportive community of practice.
- Unique Program Ideas: Allow for the sharing of innovative and unique WBL programs or initiatives that might be adapted to different districts.
- Evaluation and Growth: Work together to create methods for evaluating the effectiveness of WBL programs and scaling successful initiatives.
