Anderson - Watercolor - Beginners and Novices
This class is for those who have little or not experience with watercolor or any other medium.
In this class you will learn the fundamentals of painting with watercolor. You will also learn how to select colors that work well together and create the beautiful glow we love. Additionally, you will learn tricks and techniques to create a more interesting painting. Each week we will start a new painting focusing on that day’s information/techniques.
Supply List:
You will be able to purchase a beginner kit that includes a small palette, 2 brushes, and a 22” x 30” piece of Arches 140# cold press watercolor paper.
Note: if you already have watercolor supplies, please do not purchase anything new. Just bring what you have. The following are just suggested supplies, please email me with questions!!!
Suggested Supplies:
*Paper: Arches 140# cold press watercolor paper (we have some in art room to purchase $8.50/22”x30” sheet, which you can cut down into smaller pieces)
*Lightweight Paper support: Gator Board or Masonite…12”x16” or larger
*Palette with lid and dinner plates for mixing area if your palette doesn’t have one
*Brushes #12 round or bigger, 1”, 1 1/2” or 2” flat, #3 round or rigger
*Paints: Professional Level Watercolors (not student grade) Winsor-Newton (not Cotman), Da Vinci, Holbein, Daniel Smith recommended most. I recommend you buy a set of primary colors. I can help you with this at the first class.
Miscellaneous (not needed for the first class):
Masking Tape, Opaque White or gouache or Dr. Martin’s Bleed proof White, Masking Fluid, Cheap small brush, Note pad or Sketchbook, pencil and soft kneaded eraser, paper towels. large sponge or old towel, old toothbrush, small spray misting bottle.
